Social and Environmental Responsibility
Net-Works offers small fishing communities in the Philippines an additional source of income. Fishermen are paid to collect discarded nets from the beach and remove them from the water, helping protect their livelihood and the very rare double coral reef offshore. Discarded fishing nets are collected and sold to our reliable yarn suppliers and partners, Aquafil. Since 2011, they have been offering recycled nylon material for Interface carpet tiles. As a raw material they use waste from discarded nylon fishing lines and other sources, such as yarn obtained through our ReEntry® program.
Two Distinct Collections
- Net Effect One: a collection of three textures in square tiles of 50 × 50 cm that can be combined to mimic the border between sea and beach
- Net Effect Two: a collection of three skinny planks of 25 × 100 cm with a linear pattern that reflects the movement of water and waves
